The Ludwigsfeld settlement in the Munich district of Feldmoching

The Ludwigsfeld settlement is an official neighborhood in the Feldmoching district and is located in the southwest of the Feldmoching-Hasenbergl district. It has a rather sad history, as the Ludwigsfeld settlement was initially the Allach subcamp and part of the Dachau concentration camp subcamp, which was notable for its extremely complex system. The approximately 14-hectare site also housed prisoners of war and forced laborers.

The camp was liberated in April 1945 and later used to house DPs (displaced persons). Many displaced persons, however, did not want to return to their former homes and simply remained in the Ludwigsfeld settlement.

Even today, around 20 different nationalities can be found in the settlement. Approximately 140 residents are former prisoners of war and forced laborers from the Allach subcamp. Today, approximately 3,500 people live together in harmony in the Ludwigsfeld settlement.
