The Angerviertel in Munich’s Old Town

The Angerviertel in Munich’s Old Town got its name from a meadow (green) that, according to historians, stood near St. Jakob’s Square. However, the Angerviertel was formerly called the Rindermarktviertel, in reference to the cattle market that existed nearby at the time. The famous Rindermarkt fountain, created by Josef Henselmann in 1964, commemorates this cattle market. There is also a street in Munich called “Rindermarkt.”
