Definition of forend
The forend is the sheet metal part of a lock (or a conventional mortise lock or rim lock) that is screwed to the door at the narrow edge. The lock latch protrudes from the forend. The door latch also protrudes from the forend when the door is locked.
The necessary recesses are incorporated into the faceplate. The faceplate can be either square or oval.
As a locksmith in Munich, we are, of course, able to professionally install a faceplate on a door, as this is also necessary when using and installing a mortise lock or rim lock.
